All Pilots, CFIIs, CFIs, and Instrument Students in the Washington DC Metropolitan area are invited to visit the Flight Simulator Training Center located at Potomac Airfield, (VKX).
The center is equipped with ATC 610 Flight Simulators and Plotters for logging FAA approved Instrument Flight time under Part 61. The ATC 610 Flight Simulators and Plotters have been fully serviced and recalibrated by the manufacturer to meet new specifications and FAA requirements for logging Instrument time under Part 61in the FAR/AIM.
Instrument Rated Pilots

For your convenience one ATC 610 has been reprogrammed so that we can practice approaches at the airports listed below. Yes, it’s true; it is the real thing using your regular approach plate for the DC metro area. Come by and we will show you how it works with special assigned frequencies especially, for Stafford where most of us go for practice. The ATC 610 as you know is an excellent tool for both the IPC and for A cost effective way of logging up to 20 hours of the total required time to obtain the instrument rating.
FAA Approval for use of the ATC 610 Under Part 61
1. Instrument experience (61.57)
2. Instrument proficiency check (61.57)
3. Use of flight simulators of flight training devices (61.65)
4. Permitted credit for use of a flight Simulator or flight training device (61.129)
5. Permitted use of a flight simulator or Flight training device (61.159)
6. Flight training device, as permitted in the appropriate appendix to part 141 or as limited under section (61.4)
Pilots Training for the Instrument Rating Pilots pursuing the instrument rating are especially welcomed and will benefit from using a low cost reliable Flight Simulator to log 20 of the 40 hours required for the instrument rating. Each lesson is available on audio tapes & CDs located in the center as well as on the web site above for the ATC 610. The airports and airways used in the three curriculum books we have use the Northeast Sector including New Jersey and New York. For airports closer to home you will have an opportunity to practice approaches to airports on the ATC 610 programmed for simulated approaches at the airports listed below. Yes it’s true; we can use our same approach plate for the area and let the ATC 610 assign the appropriate frequency for tracking airways or making approaches.
